Visit Saratoga Springs During Autumn
Once the racing season is done, don’t think for a moment that Saratoga rolls up the welcome and asks you to wait until next year!
Instead, fall can be a truly delightful time to visit Saratoga Springs.
In addition to seeing the vibrant fall colors that are well known throughout this area of New York State, you and your family can enjoy such activities as:
• Picking your own apples at one of the many orchards in the area.
In addition, one thing not to miss is the annual Saratoga Fall Festival. Held the last weekend of October, the festival (which is sponsored by the Saratoga Downtown Business Associations) offers a costume parade, carousel rides, a costumed-dog parade, a pumpkin roll down Caroline Street, pony rides, a non-scary haunted house, the chance to bob for apples or climb a rock wall, and so many other fun activities.
Another favorite fall event in Saratoga is the OctoBEERfest, in which adults may sample more than 20 seasonal craft beers from regional breweries and everyone in your party may enjoy authentic German cuisine. There’s also live music throughout the festival, as well as contests and games.
Be sure to visit Saratoga’s Farmer’s Market in the fall. The Market is open year round and is open on Wednesdays from 3-6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in May-October, and is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in November-April.
It’s at the Farmer’s Market that more than 25 indoor vendors and 40 outdoor vendors offer baked goods, fresh berries, maple syrup, tubers, meats, herbs, jams, fresh vegetables, honey, and more. In addition, other vendors provide sewing crafts, home-spun wools, handmade soaps, knitted goods, and more.
If you have a hard time choosing what to see and do in Saratoga in the fall, we understand.
Please note: The Westchester House B&B is closed during the fall season.
